A family is agonised in Kajiado town after learning that their 16-year-old daughter in Form 2 never reported to her boarding school on Tuesday, September 5.
Elizabeth Ntosho, the mother of Daisy Sopiato, said her daughter left home on Tuesday morning but never arrived at the REM High School in Kimuka in Kajiado West sub-county.
“I learnt the same day that my daughter never reported to the school after I called her class teacher,” said Ntosho.
Ntosho told the Star on Saturday morning that it was not the first time her daughter reported to the school alone.
The single parent said after learning that her daughter never reported to school she reported the matter to Kajiado Central and at the Ngong police stations on Wednesday.
“I have no relatives in Ngong and the reason I released her alone is because of the economic situation at home. I sent her late to school because I had to look for her tuition fees,” said Ntosho.
She said that she released her daughter to go alone because of the high cost of transport.
“I placed her on a matatu on that Tuesday at 9am. The matatu was going to Kiserian directly, and she would connect another vehicle to Ngong and finally take a boda boda to the school,” she said.
Ntosho said she was expecting her daughter to be at school by 2pm but her teacher said she did not arrive that day.
She appealed to whoever saw her, to report the matter to the nearest police station or call her on telephone number 0724356542.
“My daughter is a disciplined girl and I have never seen her playing around with boys. When I heard that she did not report to the school, I was shocked,” she added.
