Interior CS Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday installed the first deputy county commissioner for the Elangata Wuas subcounty in Kajiado.
Kindiki also took part in the operationalisation of the new subcounty headquarters in the Kajiado West constituency.
The CS, after installing the new DCC, Fred Masingila, indicated that the government will gazette Kajiado West as a hardship area.
“Civil servants who will be posted here will get hardship allowance, this will mitigate their hardship condition here. The government will also ensure that there is enough fresh water in Elangata Wuas,” said the CS.
The CS also promised the local people and the leaders that the government would look into the condition of the roads in the new subcounty with a view to repairing them.
At the same time, Kindiki created one division and two locations in Mosiro ward, saying that government services must be taken closer to the people.
He used the occasion to praise Kajiado Central MP, Memusi Kanchory, for his bold action in refusing to take part in chaotic demos that are fronted by the Azimio that were seen recently across the country.
“Memusi is a mature leader in the opposition who does not see sense in the destruction of property through demos,” said Kindiki.
He used the occasion also to warn opposition leaders against the destruction of property, adding that the country has laws and a constitution to protect.
“It will not be business as usual for those intending to participate in harmful demos and destruction of businesses. We will use the laws we have to deal with them,” said Kindiki.
He urged Kajiado leaders to work together so that they could speed up the development of the people who elected them.
“I am promising your MP, George Sunkuyia. Sh1 million for the expansion of Elangata Wuas Primary School,” he said.
The CS said he would soon have a meeting with all the elected leaders of Kajiado to map out the region in a bid to add more administration areas in Kajiado.
“We will be coming back next week on Friday with the government heads of department so that work can start immediately,” said Kindiki.
Present during the function were; MPs Sunkuyia, Onesmus Ngogoyo, Senators Kanar Seki, Peris Tobiko and former Kajiado West MP Moses Sakuda.
