The government has assured that it is on course in operationalising gazetted sub-counties.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday said that the remaining sub-counties will be operationalised within one year.

“All the remaining 26 Sub-Counties that were gazetted and are yet to be operationalised will be commissioned within one year to ease access to Government services," he said.

The new sub-county offices, Kindiki noted, will enable easy access to government services at local levels and help address security concerns.

Earlier, he had acknowledged that budget constraints limit the simultaneous operationalization of all sub-counties but assured that his office remains dedicated to making it happen.

However, the Interior CS emphasized that the selection of sub-counties for operationalization would prioritize areas grappling with security challenges.

On September 1, 2023, Kindiki presided over the Operationalisation of Cherab sub-county in Isiolo County.

He also commissioned Malkagala as the sub-county headquarters and installed the first Deputy County Commissioner.

The sub-county had been gazetted in March 2022.

Going further, the government emphasized that there is no room for bribery and corruption in President William Ruto-led administration.

CS Kindiki put public officers engaging in bribes in exchange for government service on notice.

The CS  who was speaking in Kajiado said that once caught, the officers will be dealt with accordingly.

“A small minority of public officers is tarnishing the image and honour of the Government by demanding bribes from citizens,” he said

“Such officers will not only be dealt with administratively but prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Kindiki added.

The Interior boss challenged citizens to also call out officers engaged in such uncouth behaviour.

“Citizens also have a duty to cooperate with Government officers in the execution of their mandate, obey and respect the laws of the land, and maintain order,” he added.

On a good note, Kindiki commended the National Government Administration and Security officers who serve with diligence, patriotism, and dedication.

He assured that the Government will continue to facilitate its officers by providing modern equipment, improving their welfare, and other necessities to enhance service delivery
