Siaya Governor James Orengo has revealed a preparedness strategy ahead of the anticipated El Nino rains.
Orengo said they have set up a team to identify areas that will be highly affected by heavy rains.
"We have set a team to help map out areas that will be highly affected," the governor said.
"This will be a multi-sectoral team cutting across key departments such as health, agriculture, roads, lands and finance."
Orengo spoke on Tuesday when he met multi-agency teams.
The governor held a meeting with county commissioner Jim Njoka and police commandant Michael Muchiri.
"We urge our citizens to take precautionary measures during this short rainy season," Orengo said.
Kenya Meteorological predicted that heavy rains will be experienced in many parts of Kenya from September 2023 to January 2024.
