Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki will on Thursday appear before the Senate Cohesion Committee over the unending border dispute between Meru and Tharaka Nithi Counties.

The CS is expected to brief senators on the measures being put in place by the national government to resolve the dispute.

The meeting with lawmakers comes hot on the heels of an appeal by Meru leaders to President William Ruto to implement the Zachary Ogongo report to resolve the dispute.

IMLU on Human Rights and Torture

The Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU)  will hold a media briefing regarding the state of human rights and torture in Kenya under the Kenya Kwanza government, one year later.

IMLU will provide insights, analysis, and key findings on the current human rights situation and the prevalence of torture during the past year, particularly in relation to the government.

The event will also feature expert analysis of data and survivors' narratives.

UK deputy National security advisor in Nairobi

The Deputy UK National Security Advisor, Dame Sarah Macintosh is in Nairobi for a series of meetings.

This is the latest visit by senior UK officials to the country in a series ahead of the planned visit by King Charles III later this year as part of the Crown's efforts to strengthen ties with Commonwealth nations around the world.

This will be King Charles' fifth visit to Kenya and his first official trip to the country since his coronation at Westminster Abbey in London.

El Chapo Guzmán's wife released from prison

Emma Coronel, the wife of jailed Mexican drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, has been released from jail in the US.

She pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges and was sentenced to three years in jail in November 2021, a sentence which was later reduced.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed her release.
