CJ Koome appoints a five-member anti-corruption committee

Chief Justice Martha Koome has appointed a five-man team to sit at the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ).

Among those appointed in the gazette notice released on September 15, 2023, is EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak

"Pursuant to Article 159 (2) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and sections 5, 34 and 35 of the Judicial Service Act, the Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya and the Chairperson of the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) appoints the following members to the NCAJ Committee on the Anti- Corruption, for the remaining period of the Committee's term," reads the notice 

Other members include Justice Nixon Sifuna and Thoma Nzioka who will  represent the Judiciary 

Amos Omuga will represent the National Police Service and Mohamed Adow will be a representative of the Asset Recovery Agency

CJ Koome also revoked the appointment of Dorcas Oduor vide February 18, 2022.

The National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) was formally launched on 11 August 2011 and established under Section 34 of the Judicial Service Act (No. 1 of 2011).

It is a high-level policymaking, implementation and oversight coordinating mechanism as reflected in its membership that is composed of State and Non-State Actors from the justice sector.

The mandate as stipulated in the Act is to ensure a coordinated, efficient, effective and consultative approach in the administration of justice and reform of the justice system.
