CS Murkomen hands Kenya Airways aircraft to Mang'u School

Roads and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen on Wednesday handed over a decommissioned Kenya Airways aircraft to Mang'u High School.

Speaking during the handing-over ceremony, Murkomen said the aircraft would be a big boost to the new education curriculum, CBC.

He went on to state that the aircraft will help model practical concepts to students who want to pursue aviation-related career paths.  

"The donation of this aircraft, Boeing B737-700, is an act of nobility and an affirmation of KQ’s support for the Competency-Based Curriculum (also known as CBC) which focuses on accentuating students’ interests in particular areas of study, harnessing their innate talents, and converting their passions into careers," he said.

"I wish to thank Kenya Airways for this commendable act of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that will inspire hope in the students of Mang’u High School, assist in the modelling of their skills and transform abstract theories into practicable concepts."

The CS noted that it is time similar Corporate Social Responsibility programmes are encouraged in efforts to empower students and bequeath to them the tactical, technical and technological know-how that will give them an edge over their peers.

Murkomen added that he is happy that Kenya Airways was setting itself apart as the pioneer in talent development and innovation and as a champion of sustainable air travel.

The CS urged students of Mang’u High School to utilise the aircraft to sharpen skills and grow their passion and interest in aviation.

"I encourage you to dare to dream, for as long as there is a dream, there is hope; as long as there is hope, there is drive; and as long as there is drive, there is success!"
