Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has reshuffled her cabinet over what she termed as enhancing efficiency in service delivery.

Ndeti said the changes were intended to improve service delivery in the county.

Several County Executive Committee Members and chief officers were affected by the changes announced by the governor at Matuu County Lodge in Yatta subcounty on Wednesday.

The affected include Roads, Transport and Public Works CEC Nathaniel Nganga who has been moved to the Department of Lands, Urban Development, Housing and Energy.

Education CEC Joyce Mwikali is the new Devolution CEC while Lands County executive Philip Kilonzo moved to the Education docket.

In the new changes, Devolution CEC Consolata Mutisya has been moved to the Roads, Transport and Public Works Department.

“I have taken the decision to reorganize the leadership of my government in order to achieve better efficiency in the delivery of services to the residents of Machakos,” Ndeti said.

Ndeti said the changes were intended to place the 'right people in right dockets' to drive her development agenda dubbed 'Chakula Mezani Pesa Mfukoni' philosophy.

Wavinya also moved the Chief Officer serving in her office, Mercy Mutua and redeployed her to take charge of County Administration and Decentralized Units in the same capacity.

Her place has now been taken over by Charles Mutinda, who until Wednesday afternoon was the Chief Officer for Education.

The changes also affect Antony Mutunga (Lands) who has been moved to the Department of Agriculture in charge of Cooperative Development.

Vincent Musili left the Tourism Department to become the new Chief Officer for Agriculture and Food Security.

Muia Andrew Muema is now the chief officer for Environment having been moved from the Department of Agriculture in the same capacity.

Benson Metho also moved from the Department of Water where he was in charge of the Environment to become the new Lands Chief Officer.

County Ministers who survived the reshuffle include Daniel Yumbya (Health), Joel Nzomo (Agriculture), Onesimus Kuyu (Finance) and Sharon Mutua (Trade).
