Man charged with undressing wife, beating her over alleged cheating

A man who allegedly undressed his wife before landing on her with fists over alleged association with other men has been charged with causing her grievous harm.

Julius Okoth Ouma was charged with beating up Isabella Nekesa after she arrived at their Kawangware home from work.

He, however, denied the charges before Kibera chief magistrate Ann Mwangi after spending a night at the police cells.

The complainant is alleged to have asked the accused person to help her with some cash to buy some vegetables but instead he landed on her with beatings.

The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on September 16 at Kawangware 56 in Dagoreti subcounty within Nairobi county.

In court, the prosecution did not object to the accused person being released on bond but called for a tough terms.

Prosecutor Jonah Meroka told the court that the offence was serious and hence the need to release the accused person on a tough bond terms.

The magistrate released him on Sh200,000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.

The magistrate also directed that the accused person be supplied with all the witness statements and documentary evidence that the prosecution will rely on during the entire trial.

The case will be mentioned on October 10 for further directions.
