Senators have donned Turkana traditional regalia to the debating chamber on the last day of their sittings in Northern Kenya county.
The lawmakers led by Speaker Amason Kingi are currently holding their sittings at the Turkana County Assembly.
Male senators are wearing traditional hats made of ostrich feathers. The hats are decorated with mixed-coloured beads.
The lawmakers also wore necklaces made of beads.
They were also donned in shukas otherwise known as Maasai lesos.
Female senators are wearing necklaces complete with shukas to symbolize their elevated status.
The move came moments after senate leadership led by Kingi, Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, and his minority counterpart Stewart Madzayo were installed as Turkana elders.
The ceremony was held at the county assembly chambers and presided over by Turkana County Assembly Speaker Christopher Nakuleu.
Majority whip Boni Khalwale, his deputy Steve Lelegwe, senate deputy minority leader Enoch Wambua, nominated senator Veronica Maina, Garissa Senator Abdul Haji, and clerk Jeremiah Nyegenye were also crowned.
The senators have been in Turkana since Monday during their third sittings outside the Capital, Nairobi.
The sittings are dubbed Senate Mashinani.
The first and second senate Mashinani were held in Uasin Gishu and Kitui in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
