Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and his Nakuru Counterpart Susan Kihika have landed new roles following an election conducted by the Council of Governors.

Kahiga is now the chairperson of the Human Resource, Labour and Social Welfare Committee. He ran for the seat unopposed.

The seat was initially held by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja who chose not to defend the seat.

A source close to Sakaja told the Star that he chose to focus on his mandate at City Hall.

Kihika on the other hand was elected Industry, Manufacturing and Enterprise Development Committee chairperson. The position was initially held by Governor Wavinya Ndeti.

Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi was elected the chairperson for the Security and Foreign Affairs committee. The position was initially held by Tana River Governor Godhana Dhadho.

The Council of Governors on Monday held elections for the Executive and Technical Committee.

Most of the governors retained their positions at the CoG apart from the three.

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru was re-elected as the CoG chairperson together with her deputy, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi.

 Nandi's Stephen Sang also retained the position of Chief Whip.
