Celebrated tech founder Njeri Rionge is dead.

The Orange Democratic Movement party has paid its tribute to the late Njeri Rionge,  co-founder of Wananchi Online, an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

In a statement on Wednesday, the Raila Odinga-led party eulogized Njeri as an inspiration to many.

"RIP Njeri Rionge. You inspired many in the world of Technology. Many young women looked up to you for inspiration and many wanted to emulate you," read the statement.

The ODM party said Njeri will be missed by everyone who benefited from her skills and efforts to make life easier through IT

Njeri was a successful senior executive with extensive local and international experience in strategic leadership and organizational development.

She co-founded Wanachi Online which has grown over the years to aid in communication.

Njeri was also the sister to former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.

Njeri was the first female African representative at the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers ICANN's board, from June 2003 to November 2008.

She was involved in creating an Internet educational series on local Television.

Njeri has been featured in a variety of media formats, including the international media.

She has also worked as an inspirational speaker in Africa, Europe, and North America.

Njeri has also promoted African arts to the American market via the Black Expo Conference.
