Two plead guilty to stealing trousers in Kibera

Two men accused of stealing two trousers worth Sh2,700 have pleaded guilty to the charges at the Kibera court.

Kelvin Mbuvi Mutinda and Joseph Kamau Mariga were charged before Kibera Chief Magistrate Ann Mwangi where they denied the charges.

The court heard that the accused persons committed the offence on September 28 in Kibera area within Nairobi County.

The court heard that Milka Njambi, the complainant in the case had left her employer the shop when the accused person paid her a business visit.

“She had left her salesman at the shop when the two accused persons entered her shop without talking to anyone, Joseph Kamau started talking to her worker as Mutinda allegedly stole the trousers,” the court heard.

Mutinda is also said to have taken the said jeans and attempted to hide them and the salesperson quickly alerted the people around who apprehended them and took them to the police.

In court, they said that they had no intention of stealing the jeans.

“He is my colleague here who took them, we were not stealing,” Joseph Kamau told the court.

The court entered a plea of not going guilty against the accused person and released him on Sh3000 cash bail.

The court further directed that the first accused person appear in court on Friday for sentencing when the police avails exhibit in court.
