In Summary

  • The resultant death toll following a missile strike on a hospital in Gaza is the highest single loss of life since the Israel-Palestine conflict started back in 1947
  • The strike came 11 days into the latest war which started on October 7 with a surprise attack by Hamas on the Jewish state.
Lawyer Miguna Miguna.

Outspoken lawyer Miguna Miguna has taken on French President Emmanuel Macron over the Israel-Palestine conflict and told him to get off the fence.

Miguna's reaction followed Macron's comment after Tuesday night's missile strike on Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza which left at least 500 people dead.

The hospital was packed with people injured in previous Israeli strikes and civilians seeking shelter.

"Nothing can justify striking a hospital. Nothing can justify targeting civilians," Macron said in a statement via his X handle.

"France condemns the attack on the Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza, which made so many Palestinian victims. Our thoughts are with them. All the light must be shed on the circumstances," he added.

Miguna, however, told off the President in a brief but terse statement with suggested Macron is being hazy over the Israel-Palestine conflict.

"Condemn Israel's mass murder of Palestinian civilians. Stop being vague!" he said in response to Macron's remarks.

Israel has distanced itself from the attack on the hospital and blamed Hamas.

The Israeli military said initial investigations suggested the explosion was caused by a failed Hamas rocket launch.

"A failed rocket launch by the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization hit the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza City," IAF said in a statement on X.

The statement by the Israeli military followed one by President Benjamin Netanyahu who said intelligence from multiple sources indicated that Islamic Jihad was responsible for the failed rocket launch.

"An analysis of IDF operational systems indicates that a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing near the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza at the time it was hit," Netanyahu said on X.

Islamic Jihad denied the Israeli allegation.

The hospital owned by the Anglican church was struck at 7.30pm local time.

The resultant death toll is the highest single loss of life since the Israel-Palestine conflict started back in 1947

The strike came 11 days into the latest Israel-Palestine war which started on October 7 with a surprise attack by Hamas on the Jewish state.

Until now, at least 1,400 Israeli nationals have died while Palestinian authorities put the death toll in Gaza to at least 3,000.

Several countries have condemned Israel for civilian bloodshed although some like the US have stood with Israel and offered military aid.
