Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo now claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta was behind an elaborate plan to deny him victory in the 2013 gubernatorial race.
The former governor spoke on Monday during an interview with Spice FM.
Kabogo who has lost the last two attempts to recapture the seat said he came to realise that Uhuru was never his friend.
Kabogo explained that while all along he had thought that Uhuru was supporting his candidature under TNA in 2013, the involvement of Uhuru's lawyer in a case Kabogo filed against his then-opponent James Nyoro confirmed his fears.
The former governor realised that Uhuru was supporting James Nyoro, a former Kiambu Governor who took over the county after the impeachment of Kabogo's successor Ferdinand Waititu.
Nyoro was then seeking the governor seat on a Narc ticket.
"They even put a billboard at Muthaiga with Nyoro and Uhuru," Kabogo said.
Kabogo said he wondered how Nyoro who was a Narc candidate would use Uhuru's image on his campaign posters yet the former president had a TNA gubernatorial candidate who was him.
"This was another party member with the President aspirant. I took them to court and I said this is wrong it is an election offence," Kabogo said.
"When in court, do you know who came as the lawyer for Nyoro? It was Uhuru Kenyatta's lawyer. This is how things are done in this country. It is fate."
In the long run, Kabogo feels that Uhuru tried to drop him in 2013 as the Kiambu gubernatorial candidate, yet they were working together in the same party.
"You know I was friends with Uhuru Kenyatta and I thought he was my friend too. I thought I was also his friend," Kabogo said.
Kabogo said when things went wrong, people always pointed an accusing finger at those around the former President.
But in his opinion, Kabogo said the problem was not Uhuru's friends.
"You know people always say it is not Uhuru, it is not Uhuru. It is Uhuru!" the former governor said.
Further, Kabogo remembers that when former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu held the seat, he went to the then Deputy President William Ruto, now the President, to lament over his frustrations.
He remembered that he complained bitterly to Ruto.
"I tried to blame Ruto and it got so heated because I never hide how I feel. I told him he was the one that fixed it. Because you are the one who came to Jubilee, and when things didn't work, you came to take over,"
He said Ruto was empathetic.
But he also assured Kabogo that deep down he knew what the root of all his problems was.
