"I know you will pass this exam you have always done it from grade one to now class eight, I know you will pass it because if you think positively you will expect positive results but if you think negatively you will expect negative results."

Babu Owino urged the candidates to use the few days remaining to practice mathematics.

The rehearsal date for KCPE and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) is set for Friday, October 27.

Exams for both KCPE and KPSEA will begin on Monday, October 30, and end on Wednesday, November 1.

The 2023 KCPE examinations will mark the end of the 8-4-4 system in primary schools.

Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang in a meeting with Field Education Officers and officials of the National Government Administration Officers(NGAO) over KCPE and KCSE examinations in September said 2023 has the highest number of KCPE candidates in history.

The Educational PS said more than 3.5 million candidates will sit for national examinations with KCPE candidates covering the most soaring number ever recorded in the country.

This includes candidates eligible for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).

“Just under a million will sit for KCSE this year, 1.4 million for KCPE, and 1.2 million for KPSEA,” Kipsang said.

He said the Ministry of Education noticed there were 300,000 additional learners when they were analysing KCPE data.

He said some of them are adults who registered as private candidates.
