Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Church Centre in Kilifi has spoken after a Shanzu court dismissed a case against him.

Pastor Ezekiel, had been accused, jointly and by conspiracy, of committing murder, aiding suicide, abduction, radicalisation, genocide, crimes against humanity, child cruelty, fraud and money laundering.

Speaking moments after the ruling, Pastor Ezekiel said that the whole experience was a test from God.

He, however, said that he is not angry with anyone as the government itself has confirmed he is not involved.

"I am not angry with anyone because this was a test from God to see if I can stand with Him and with the truth," he said.

"I do not think this was about Ezekiel, this was about the Church and the future. If we could not have stood strong, those who look upon us in faith would have lost hope. But God saw it fit that I go through this test to see if at all we are worthy. We say thank you Lord for this test."

He said there was a miscommunication when he got arrested and he was depicted as a criminal.

Pastor Ezekiel thanked God for seeing him through until he had been set free from the cases.

On Tuesday, the Court directed that his Sh 1.5m cash bail be returned.

Ezekiel, through his lawyer Cliff Ombeta, on Monday applied to have the matter in which he was being investigated for an array of accusations, closed.

Ombeta cited a prolonged period without formal charges and no progress report.

On Tuesday, Shanzu Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido discharged Ezekiel after the DPP ordered the case closed following what he called the completion of investigations.

Omido said having considered both the prosecution and the defence applications, he had no choice but to discharge Ezekiel.

The DPP had filed a response to an application by Ombeta that the case be closed.
