Public Service CS Moses Kuria has pleaded with former head of Public Service Francis Muthaura to help reconcile the leadership of Meru County.

Speaking on Thursday evening during the launch of Muthaura's book, Kuria said Muthaura should bring Meru leaders together and come up with a way forward.

The CS said the current leadership has only been in office for a year and not even a single report from the Auditor General is out, but Meru County is already out to impeach its governor.

Kuria said the matter makes him sad because he knows how difficult it is for a woman to compete in a male dominated election and win.

"I hope that wise counsel will prevail. We are only one year since we went to elections, and not even one audit report is out from the Auditor General and more so for me impeaching a woman who has gone to elections and won makes me very sad because I know that it is very difficult.

"I know you are Njuri Ncheke number one, you can do something about it. Please help the great county of Meru reconcile. Put those leaders together and ask for our help if you need it. You are our leader and hope," the CS said.

Kuria is the only leader from the Mt Kenya region who has been very vocal against the ouster of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.

Mwangaza is waiting to face the Senate plenary to know her fate following a second impeachment by Meru MCAs.

In October, Kuria sarcastically said the region should also allow other regions in the country to impeach their governors.

He said that unless impeachments solely depend on a region's climatic conditions, it is time they let others also do it.

He joked that this would be, in the spirit of "inclusivity and diversity".

Kuria on Thursday questioned why it is only Mt Kenya and Nairobi regions that are always quick to get rid of their governors.

He noted that such acts inform stereotypes associated with Mt Kenya.

"I understand from what has been said here that Ambassador Muthaura was the Patron of Meru Economic and Social Council and that gives me a lot of pride because we all come from somewhere and we cannot forget where we come from. Ambassador I want to ask you to spare some time and look with an eye of sympathy to what is happening to the great county of Meru, all is not well.

"I have counted that since the advent of devolution, Mt Kenya region and that includes Nairobi, our county assemblies have impeached governors nine times and I'm saying maybe in the spirit of inclusivity we let other regions also impeach their governors. Why only Mt Kenya? Is it only us who have got thieves? And you know these things we do inform stereotypes that inform on other people."
