Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called upon Kiambu MCAs to focus on service delivery.
Speaking on Monday, the DP insisted that President William Ruto-led administration is focused on service delivery.
"The Ruto administration roots for a strong Devolution, and therefore, we have no room for squabbles that will derail service delivery to the people," Gachagua said.
He was speaking at his official residence in Karen, where he was hosting MCAs from Kiambu to listen to their concerns ahead of a similar engagement with their MPs and later, the governor, for an amicable solution.
"The national government, led by the President William Ruto is seized of the friction between Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and the leadership of the devolved unit, led by the MCAs," Gachagua said.
He emphasized that seamless synergy of working together between the Executive and the legislative arm of the county government is crucial in achieving the main goal of devolution-igniting and sustaining development.
On Sunday, Gachagua revealed that the President had assigned him the duty to unify the Kiambu county leadership and not to let the county drain.
He pointed out the 'noise' coming from the county was not good, noting that Kiambu was one of the regions that voted overwhelmingly for the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Kiambu has 60 elected MCAs and 27 nominated ones who are divided over Wamatangi's leadership
Displeased by Governor Wamatangi’s governance, a section of Kiambu MCAs have asked their governor to change or they will table an impeachment motion against him.
The MCAs on Wednesday said they have enough ground to table a notice of impeachment against Wamatangi.
Development projects, especially roads were mentioned by the MCAs, stating that last financial year despite the passing of their budget, there was very little improvement in accessing roads, noting that they are still in a sorry state.
As a result, the MCAs issued a 21-day ultimatum to Wamatangi to respond to the allegations levelled at him, failure to which they will not bow down to remove him.
However, another faction of at least 49 MCAs came out to defend Governor Wamatangi over the looming impeachment.
Peter Mburu, Kamenu MCA, while reading a statement during a press brief outside the assembly precincts on Friday said that as an assembly, they are unwilling to take the impeachment path.
"In the light of a statement made by some of our colleagues regarding a potential impeachment, we the undersigned members of county assembly firmly assert that Kiambu is not prepared for the removal of the Governor from office," Mburu said.
