Haiti deployment mission is expected to be tabled in Parliament on Thursday afternoon for approval.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki had noted that the request by the United Nations had to first be approved by both the National Assembly and Senate as per the requirement of the constitution.

The United Nations Security Council in October passed a resolution to deploy an international security force to Haiti, led by Kenya. 

Out of 15 Council members, 13 were in favor of Kenya leading the mission in Haiti while Russia and China gave the exercise a wide berth.

Maraga team to table police reform report 

President William Ruto will on Thursday afternoon receive the final police reform report at the State House

The 20-member National Taskforce on Improvement of Terms and Conditions of Service and other Reforms for Members of the National Police Service and Kenya Prisons Service was appointed by President Ruto on December 21, 2022.

The task force was mandated to identify the constraints on effective service delivery by NPS and KPS was to come up with a report to be used as a work plan for implementation.

The task force led by retired Chief Justice David Maraga was on improvement of the terms and conditions of service and other reforms for members of police and prisons.

It presented its progress report on October 4 and was granted a month to complete its work.

Ruto opens National Executive retreat

President William Ruto will today open a two-day national executive retreat in Nairobi.

Ex-Lamu Senator to take plea over fraud-related charges

Former Lamu Senator Anwar Loititip is expected to take a plea over fraud charges after a Warrant of Arrest was issued against him by Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphin Alego.

He is to answer charges relating to uttering a false document.

Sh43 million graft case facing ex-Mp Elizabeth Ongoro

At the Anti-corruption court, the Sh43 million graft case facing ex-Mp Elizabeth Ongoro and her husband Masha Kenga will be mentioned today.

A new Magistrate has since taken over the case following the transfer of Peter Ooko who was seized of the matter.

15 witnesses have so far testified and according to the prosecution, about 20 witnesses are remaining to give their testimony.

The two are faced with a charge of embezzling Sh43 million from the Kasarani constituency development fund.
