A suspect with two pistols has been arrested after a botched robbery in Ruiru.
In a police report on Friday, a man had gone to deposit Sh200,000 at an Mpesa shop in Ruiru.
"Then one man armed with a pistol ordered him and the Mpesa attendant to surrender the money he was depositing," the report read.
The man complied and ran out of the shop.
But the attendant who was the owner of the shop cried for help and members of the public came to her rescue.
"The armed man came out of the shop shooting. He ran towards a bank where he was arrested by the guards and disarmed," the report read.
He was then handed over to DCI Ruiru police station who had responded to the shooting.
The suspect believed to be a police officer was armed with a Glock pistol with 14 rounds of 9mm.
The police recovered Sh54,100 from the suspect.
