A foreign national has been charged before Milimani Law Courts with threatening to kill a real estate businessman.

Nuur Ahmed Mohamed is accused of, without lawful excuse telling Abdi Hassan Mohamed 'Nikipata nafasi nitakuua wewe' (When I get the opportunity I'll kill you).

According to the charge sheet presented before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Nanzushi on Monday, the threat was allegedly issued on November 4, at Westgate Shopping Mall in Westlands.

Ahmed is also charged with assaulting Hassan.

"Nuur Ahmed Mohamed on November 4, 2023, at Westgate Shopping Mall in Westlands subcounty within Nairobi County, you unlawfully assaulted Abdi Hassan Mohamed thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm," the charge sheet reads in part.

Ahmed however pleaded not guilty to both counts and prayed for lenient bond terms.

The complainant's lawyer Benson Nzakyo however opposed the release on bond arguing that since he is a foreigner, he might be a flight risk.

He also argued that Ahmed might interfere with the witnesses if released on bond or bail.

The court acknowledged the request and scheduled a mention on Friday, during which the bail ruling will be addressed.
