The National Police Service (NPS) has recovered 354 mobile phones from a vehicle in Umoja.
Through their X account on Saturday, they said one suspect has been arrested and is awaiting arraignment.
The police said the suspect is currently being held at Kayole Police Station.
"On 25/11/2023 at around 0210hrs, NPS Officers from Kayole Police Station recovered 354 mobile phones from a Toyota Premio in Umoja and arrested one suspect who is currently held at Kayole Police Station awaiting arraignment," police said.
The gadgets were seized to be used as exhibits.
The operation which started in Nairobi has spread to other major towns where the crime is growing, police say.
The operation comes a day after two suspected thieves were on Thursday lynched by the public at Pangani shopping center in Nairobi.
The two who were on a motorbike are said to have snatched a mobile phone from a passerby around the center near a Petro filling station.
Their attempts to flee after committing the crime were, however, thwarted by the residents who with the help of boda boda riders at the center cornered them.
They were beaten up before being set on fire.
Police who responded to an alarm by one of the residents found the lifeless bodies that were burnt beyond recognition at the scene.
In another incident on November 4 in Nyeri, at least 417 suspected stolen mobile phones were recovered.
A 32-year-old man was arrested in connection with the theft.
The recovery and arrest followed interrogations on two young men earlier arrested by Nyeri detectives, after they were cornered while snatching mobile phones from shoppers in Gatitu, Nyeri, police said.
