Kenyans living abroad who have excelled in their respective careers and made positive contributions to the country are set to be awarded next month by a Diaspora lobby group.
The event is set to be held from December 6 to 8.
The 2023 Diaspora Awards launch was announced yesterday by the Kenya Diaspora Alliance.
Chairperson Shem Ochuodho said the event is set to celebrate and recognise the remarkable contributions and achievements of individuals from diverse Kenyan diaspora communities across the world.
He said KDA recognises the awards as a beacon of acknowledgement for individuals who have not only demonstrated excellence, innovation, and impact but have also showcased the positive influence of diaspora communities on a global scale.
Ochuodho said the awards will be presented at the Kenya Diaspora Homecoming Convention (KDHC) 2023 that will bring together exceptional individuals from various fields, highlighting the invaluable contributions of diaspora communities worldwide.
"KDHC is a networking and partnership event annually brings together Kenyans living and working abroad to celebrate the year that has passed, network, make projections and receive updates on upcoming opportunities and activities," he said.
According to Ochuodho, the 2023 Diaspora Awards are designed to recognise outstanding achievements in a diverse range of categories from Arts and Culture to Science and Technology, Entrepreneurship to Philanthropy and many others.
"The awards serve as a testament to the multifaceted brilliance of diaspora individuals. We are encouraging Kenyans living and working abroad to attend the conference either in person or virtually," he added.
The awards honour Kenyans in diaspora whose efforts focus on driving the revitalisation and economic progress around the world.
"The awards hold a vital mission to inspire and motivate the next generation through sharing success stories and innovative endeavors that encourages individuals within diaspora communities to aspire to greatness."
Diaspora Alliance is also currently pushing for the government to underscore the significant influence of diaspora communities in fostering global understanding, cultural exchange, diplomacy and socio-economic development by uniting exceptional individuals, professionals, and organizations.
