More than 700 Community health promoters from Isiolo County on Saturday received smartphones to enhance their work.
The smartphones were distributed by Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha and his Agriculture and Labour counterparts Mithika Linturi and Florence Bore.
Nakhumicha insisted that the smartphones would help the CHPs to capture details of the locals.
"We are trying to do away with paperwork so that every person’s details are well captured and for easy checking of the progress of the patient,” she said.
The CS added that the government was keen on ensuring health services are available, accessible, and affordable to every Kenyan.
The Cabinet Secretaries also visited Ngaremara area where they distributed relief food supplies to the elderly and those affected by flash floods.
The vulnerable families benefited from beans, Corn Soya, rice and mosquito nets from the National government.
Present were Deputy Governor James Lowasa, County Secretary Dadhe Boru, CECs and Chief officers.
Dr Lowasa hailed the CS health adding that the donations will go a long way in helping the needy.
Hundreds of families will also benefit from Sh37 million Hunger safety net program, a cash transfer to cushion the elderly, people living with disabilities, orphans and other vulnerable groups.
He called on CS Nakhumicha to help speed up the process of upgrading Isiolo Referral Hospital to a Level 5 status.
He also appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture to intervene in addressing food security in Isiolo through its agriculture drive program to empower youth and women.
More than 12,000 households will also benefit from 25,000 insecticidal mosquito nets (LLINs) to cushion hundreds of families affected by flash floods in the area.
Earlier in the week, Isiolo County in collaboration with the Kenya Defence Forces launched an initiative to airlift aid to areas severely affected by floods.
The aid items included food and non-food items.
