Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi has issued a compelling call for a renewed dedication to democracy, equality, and justice as Kenya commemorates its 60th Jamhuri Day.
Speaking from London, amidst the presence of High Commissioners accredited to the Court of St. James' and Heads of International Organizations, Mudavadi emphasized the significance of hoisting Kenya's flag as a symbol of collective determination to construct a nation where every citizen, whether at home or in the diaspora, has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.
"We encourage Kenyans to invest in these spaces as much as they invest back home. As we celebrate Jamhuri Day, we renew our commitment to the core principles that define us – democracy, equality, and justice as a Commonwealth Member state," he said.
Moreover, Mudavadi also urged Kenyans living abroad to embrace the richness of diversity and foster inclusive development for the betterment of the nation.
He said both countries should embrace diversity that enriches the nation in this global village, fostering a sense of belonging for every Kenyan.
"Looking towards the future, may our journey be marked by sustained prosperity, inclusive development, and a legacy of unity that inspires generations to come," said Mudavadi.
The Prime CS explained that in Kenya's history, each thread narrates a story of resilience, diversity and progress and unity, forged by the shared aspirations of freedom fighters and the dreams of the people, which remains the cornerstone of strength.
"On this day, we come together to commemorate the enduring spirit of our beloved nation. Today, we stand united in pride, reflecting on the progress we have achieved, the obstacles we have overcome, and the promise of a brighter future," Mudavadi stated.
In addition, Mudavadi acknowledged the positive outcomes of the official visit undertaken by Their Majesties, King Charles and Queen Camilla last month.
The invitation extended by President William Ruto facilitated a comprehensive tour encompassing Nairobi City, Mombasa, and neighboring regions.
According to Mudavadi, this visit effectively highlighted the collaborative efforts between Kenya and the United Kingdom, with a specific focus on advancing shared prosperity, addressing climate change, creating youth opportunities and employment, promoting sustainable development, and contributing to a more stable and secure region.
Furthermore, the Prime CS extended congratulations to his new counterpart, Lord David William Donald Cameron, who now serves as the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom.
Mudavadi also commended James Spencer Cleverly, the immediate predecessor and current Home Secretary, for his previous contributions in the same role.
