119,462 youths employed through Jitume project - CS Owalo

A total of 119,462 youths have been employed through the Digital platforms since the government launched the Jitume project.

ICT CS Eliud Owalo on Monday disclosed that another 390,968 youths have been trained under the program which was initiated by the Kenya Kwanza government last December.

Speaking after he unveiled a Jitume Digital Lab at Makasembo Secondary School in Rarieda, Siaya County, the CS added that since the program's launch last year, a total of 247 Digital hubs across the country have been inaugurated.

The Jitume project is a collaboration of the Ministry, through the ICT Authority and Konza Technopolis Development Authority, and the Ministry of Education, through the Technical and Vocational Education Training Authority (TVET).

"From constructing a Digital Superhighway to rolling out Wi-Fi hotspots and establishing Digital Hubs, we are building a future where innovation drives economic growth," the CS added.

Former RariedaMP Nicholas Gumbo; Chairman of Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority, Jack Ranguma; Chairman of Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, Charles Owino; Director of Bomas of Kenya, Mr. Phares Oguda; Ms Josephine Ndambuki of Konza; and former MCA Kennedy Obuya, among others, attended the function.

The CS also Commissioned Kagwa Community Sacco, Composed of 30 Women Groups at Makasembo Primary School.
