Constitutional lawyer Danstan Omari has alleged the Kenya Kwanza leaders have started facing rejection on the ground.

On Monday, Omari explained that Kenyans have become very vocal about their dissatisfaction with the economy and are sparring leaders who ought to make the situation easy for them.

"The rejection started when some Cabinet secretaries were chased by the crowds. It started in Bomet, Kabarnet and this weekend we saw in Machakos," he said in an interview on K24.

"None of the leaders can face the public. They cannot face us and that puts in question, where are we heading to?" Omari posed.

Hitting out at the government, the lawyer claimed that its incompetence needs 10 years to work.

Omari claimed that when people who are in power are incompetent, they take so long to deliver what competent people can do within a short period.

"Kenya Kwanza has put a bunch of incompetent people in decision-making. The noise from the political class claims the economy has stabilised, while the technical people at the treasury and Central of Kenya are saying there is no money," he said.

The lawyer added that the Kenya Kwanza manifesto was filled with promises that were said would be witnessed after the bible was put down during the swearing-in ceremony on September 13, 2o23.

Omari said that the government has changed its tune and now says it will need 10 years to deliver.

"I don't know where they got 10 years because as per the constitution, a government is in power for five years," he said.

On Sunday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said President William Ruto requires 10 years to fully deliver the Kenya Kwanza Alliance manifesto.

According to Gachagua, five years are not enough to achieve any meaningful development in the country.

He said the work being done by the president was commendable and that Kenyans should re-elect him in the 2027.
