President William Ruto has assured the investigative agencies in the country of his commitment to enabling them to discharge their mandate effectively.

Speaking during the Jamhuroi Day celebrations, the President said he will do his part in ensuring Kenyans' taxes do not go to waste.

The Head of state urged the Judiciary, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to remain steadfast in delivering their mandate without any fear or favour.

"It is only right that I match this admirable commitment by the people of Kenya to do their part in getting the economy going and give an assurance that all taxes collected by the Government shall be put to their intended use and that no single shilling–not one shilling shall be lost through embezzlement, theft or corruption," he said.

"I urge our justice, law and order institutions, led by the Judiciary and the anti-corruption agencies, to discharge their mandate without fear, favour, ill-will or prejudice."

Ruto added that he would not act as a shield to anyone incriminated of corruption regardless of his tribe or status in society.

"I also give my undertaking to support the prosecution of all those involved in corruption, without regard to their social, economic or political status or connections, ethnicity or any other consideration whatsoever.

"This is the minimum that is expected of us in fulfilment of our constitutional mandate, and Kenyans deserve no less."
