The Kenya National Highways Authority has issued a traffic advisory on the Rironi-Mai Mahiu Road after a truck broke down on Friday.

KeNHA in a statement called on motorists plying the Rironi-Mai Mahiu Road to be extra careful when using that section of the road.

The truck, according to KeNHA, broke down along the escarpment, about 10 kilometres from Rironi as you head toward Mai Mahiu.

The Authority added that it is working with relevant authorities in efforts to control traffic in the affected section.

“KeNHA through her Performance Based Contractor is working closely with the traffic police to manage and control the traffic flow. The Authority urges motorists to exercise caution and patience while driving through this section,” it said.

“Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.”

This is the second time in less than a week that the Rironi-Mai Mahiu Road is experiencing huge traffic.

On Friday last week, the snarl-up was a result of a trailer veering off the road and crashed into the railings, blocking traffic to and from Mai Mahiu.

KeNHA advised motorists and other road users are advised to use alternative routes.
