There are some serious issues needing attention at Kenya Power that relate to not only use of money but also operations and how we find ourselves with so many blackouts.

It can be seen clearly that when there is a problem in one end, it also affects other ends.

Even someone who is not an auditor will tell you the blackouts are linked to operations and management of Kenya power.

One of the main issues is the payments, and then the customers are still waiting to be metered. That is a serious matter I have been trying to understand from Kenya Power.

How can you be in business of selling power? Customers are coming here, they are saying we are paying you so that you can charge us to buy your power, but you don’t seem to be bothered to sell the power.

At the end of the day, when you look at the so-called commercial losses and technical losses, it is huge.

Instead of reducing the costs of electricity so that more customers can pay, they are running to Epra to get them increase their charges.

Why do you want to get a bigger percentage of commercial losses instead of just getting the money yourself because the client wants to pay?

The story they have always given us is that year in year out they have a shortage of meters. In other times, they have cases of transformers.

But when you try to analyse the reasons for the shortage of meters and transformers, it baffles you.

Why is it that Kenya Breweries have no shortage of beer?

Why is it that every other organisation does not have a shortage of the things that they are in business for? Kenya Power is not in any other business other than selling power.

Their business is to connect people, install meters and transformers.

The problems we are seeing point to management issues at Kenya power.

How come Kenya Power has the highest number of litigations? What is it they are doing wrong to attract all these litigations?
