Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has reiterated that she does and will not recognize William Ruto as the President.

On Thursday, Karua said she has the freedom to say so as the constitution allows freedom of speech.

" He (Rut0) is not my President. I reckon he is in office however he got there," she said during an interview with Citizen Tv

Karua highlighted that she doesn't believe in the process that gave Ruto the presidency, con the claim that it was flawed.

She also said that she disagreed with the Supreme Court decision that upheld the Former IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati's declaration of Ruto as the winner of the August 9, 2022 presidential election.

" I don't agree with the court's decision where it found that three is a majority out of seven.  Even without saying so, If four commissioners say they cannot support the presidential declaration and the court trashes them, it legitimising that three can overrule  four in a panel," Karua explained

Four ex-IEBC commissioners had disputed the presidential elections set to be announced by the Chebukati.

The four led by former commissioner Juliana Cherera said they couldn't take ownership of the results because of the opaque nature they have been handled.

Moreso, the Narc Kenya leader alleged that the process was flawed.

"Chebukati's decision was forced upon us. Even if it binds us, I dont have to believe in it. That's all I'm saying," Karua added.

This is not the first time, Karua has made it clear that she not recognizing Ruto as the President.

In June this year during an interview with NTV  reiterated her stand that she does not recognise  Ruto as the President.

Karua claimed said the Kenya Kwanza government is an illegitimate regime.

"There is no regime that has ever defeated the collective will of the people. I don't recognise Ruto as President," she said.

In November 2022, she explained why he does not recognise William Ruto as President.

In an interview with Spice FM, Karua insisted that only the law recognises Ruto as head of state but not her.

She went on to say that she respects the court verdict but disagrees with it because justice given in court might not represent the truth.

"The law recognises him and I don't. He's the president courtesy of the law. I do not have to over-praise that position. I said I respect the court verdict but totally disagree with it," she said.

According to Karua, the August 9 presidential election results were manipulated.

The former Justice Minister and four-term Gichugu MP was the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential running mate.

If they had formed the government, Raila Odinga had promised to hand her additional responsibilities of being in charge of the Justice and Legal affairs docket.

When Kenyans went to the ballot on August 9, 2023, six days later on August 15, former IEBC chairman declared Ruto as the presidential contest winner after defeating Raila and two other candidates in the August 9 polls.

Ruto garnered 7.1 million votes against Raila's 6.9 million votes.

However, Raila rejected the results terming them "null and void" and promised a bruising battle at the Supreme Court.

The apex court, however, threw out the consolidated petition for lack of sufficient evidence even as the judges indicted Chebukati for having fallen short in some areas in administering the election.

On September 13, 20233 President Ruto was sworn in as Kenya's fifth President.
