Officers at Bungoma police station on Friday evening arrested one suspect and recovered suspected stolen items from a house in Ranje village, Kanduyi Constituency.

The police say the house where the stolen goods were recovered is fenced with a parameter wall.

Acting on a tip-off from the public, the armed officers were able to search the house and recover the stolen items.

The owner of the house managed to escape the police arrest.

The items that the officers recovered included: four Solar panels, four flood lights, security bulb holders, one generator, three boxes of half dozen glasses of water, one laptop, a printer, six pieces of DVD Players, five assorted TVs, eighteen hoofers, four microwaves, a refrigerator, blender, pressure cooker, an electric kettle, six shaving machines, among other items.

While confirming the incident, Bungoma South police commander, Wilson Muraya lauded members of the public for tipping off the officers who responded to the issue on time.

“We believe that the items that the officers have recovered were stolen from different people in Bungoma," Muraya noted.

Muraya, however, called on the members of the public to be vigilant and report such cases to relevant authorities when they notice that their neighbors are keeping items that do not belong to them.

“We are still investigating how these items were brought and stored in the house,” the police boss said.

He noted that in the process, the officers were able to arrest one suspect.

“The officers arrested one suspect who is currently held in custody and will be arraigned on Tuesday,” Muraya stated.

He urged residents who lost their items to avail themselves at Bungoma police station with relevant documents to confirm that the items belonged to them.
