Former Treasury CS Henry Rotich hosted a thanksgiving event at his parent's home to celebrate after being acquitted of court charges in the Arror and Kimwarer Dams case.

An emotional Rotich expressed joy at being set free, saying he had gone through hell for a period of four and half years when he was in court.

Rotich almost broke down saying he had forgiven those who tormented him with "the politically instigated charges".

"I have forgiven them because they didn't know what they were doing," said Rotich.

The thanksgiving service was hosted at Tendwa Village and was attended by several top guests including Treasury PS Chris Kiptoo, Governors Jonathan Bii and Wisly Rotich of Elgeyo Marakwet along with Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago.

Rotich insisted that the charges against him and others were political witch-hunts because he believed he did nothing wrong.

"Much of the money for the projects was still with the lender and maybe those who were investigating should say how they knew it was stolen," said Rotich.

He said his family suffered a lot of anguish and frustrations along with his neighbours and friends and that is why he hosted a Thanksgiving event to celebrate with everyone.

"We just came to thank God for what happened on December 14 even as we look into the new year with renewed hope," said Rotich.

He said even though he had been doing his own private business he could not concentrate with the court charges hanging over his neck.

"But for now the most important thing is that we are free and hope new opportunities will come up in the future," said Rotich.

While addressing the meeting, Rotich accused the media of being used to torment him and urged journalists to be always objective and investigate matters deeply.
