JEREMIAH KIONI: Mt Kenya will abandon UDA ahead of 2027

They were made to believe they could trust an outsider, which has never happened in the region’s history

In Summary
  • What you are seeing as political machinations targeting the region is panic within the United Democratic Alliance.
  • I foresee the people will make the decision as a united front, and Jubilee will be the option.

The mess we are in is because Mt Kenya was gullible to the politics of deception and hate.

They were made to believe that they could trust an outsider, which has never happened in the region’s history since 1963 when the country gained independence. They were easily manipulated to give in to the current regime and it is worth appreciating that they now understand better.

The Mountain people will play a key role in determining who gets to power in the next presidential election. I project that the region will vote as a bloc – and most likely under one party.

My role in the Jubilee Party is to ensure they are united as we approach 2027. They will take part in the upcoming vote, not for the benefit of a given political party, but for survival – in all spheres including politically, economically, and culturally. They know their unity is important for the realisation of this noble cause.

The vote will be overwhelming as they have realised that those who deceived them have panicked. What you are seeing as political machinations targeting the region is panic within the United Democratic Alliance and many people are taking advantage of the situation.

The ruling coalition may have come to terms with the fact that Mt Kenya will not be fooled again. The backdoor approach by Kanini Kega (EALA MP) and Sabina Chege (nominated) who are agents of UDA will not work.

The Mountain people don’t want the hype of the likes of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah. They will not have their way. The politics of divide and rule will not be applicable in our region. The people will be careful about the decisions they make.

I foresee the people will make the decision as a united front, and Jubilee will be the option. We can’t move at the speed they want, so it is upon us to be strategic.

When all is done, there will be no trace of UDA in Mt Kenya and it will be very difficult to get anyone to run on that ticket in our region.
