Man stabs woman to death, attempts suicide in Webuye

Detectives are investigating an incident in which a man is believed to have killed his wife before he attempted suicide in Webuye, Bungoma County.

The body of the woman was found in a one-roomed house where the man was also found with stab wounds in the stomach and neck.

Locals said they had heard commotion from the house where the couple stayed and on checking, they realized the man was sitting next to the body of the woman.

The man was bleeding at that time and was writhing in pain seeking help.

Police who visited the scene said there was struggle therein an indication the woman was strangled in a suspected fight.

Police said they are investigating the murder and attempted suicide on the eve of the New Year’s Day incident in Mwanainchi area.

A blood-stained bed sheet and kitchen knife were recovered at the scene.

The man was rushed to the Webuye County Hospital where he was admitted while the body of the woman was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

Elsewhere in South B area, Nairobi, the body of a middle-aged man was found on the roadside after a suspected murder.

Police recovered a knife believed to have been used by the assailant next to the body following the murder at Fuata Nyayo area in Mariguini slums.

The victim was identified as Jackson Kisa and had a stab wound on the chest, police said.

The accused woman was arrested for grilling. She told police they fought before she picked up a knife and stabbed the man to death.

The suspect was expected in court to face murder charges, police said.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man drowned in a dam in Bomet.

The victim is said to have drowned while bathing at Silanga dam in Chepchara village.

Bomet County disaster team and Red Cross personnel managed to retrieve the body and took it to Longisa County Mortuary for a postmortem exercise.
