Former Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has called out President William Ruto over his recent remarks on the Judiciary.

On Thursday, the former MP told the President to walk the talk on reigning over corrupt judicial officers.

"Stop lamenting and act. You (Ruto) look like someone who is still in a campaign mood, you have the power and the constitutional authority to transform this country as you have always claimed you care about," Keter said.

He was reacting to President William Ruto's statement where he affirmed that bribing judges will never happen under his watch.

In the statement on Thursday, Ruto insisted that not a shilling from his administration would be used to bribe judges.

The President who was responding lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi said that despite there being corrupt judicial officers, many of them have good morals.

He said that by working with the good ones, corruption in the judiciary can be uprooted.

"Ahmednasir SC, you warned me of sabotage by corrupt judicial officers. I told you there are many good officers in the judiciary and that we will root out the corruption. We shall. Muite SC, the impunity of bribing judges so as not to derail, delay, or sabotage Kenya’s imminent transformation will never happen under my watch. Not a single cent will be used to bribe nobody. Mambo ya wafisadi wote ni yale nilisema....." Ruto said on X.

His remarks were in response to lawyers Ahmednasir and Paul Muite.

Ahmednasir had on Wednesday asked the head of state to borrow the methods of the previous administrations instead of disobeying court orders.

He alleged that former regimes bribed judges to rule in their favour in several high-profile cases, insisting that it was an open secret.

Muite on his part backed Ahmednasir's claims but added that President Ruto should not follow the same route.

According to Muite, two wrongs don't make a right.

"President WSR shouldn't however copy his predecessor; two wrongs never make a right!"
