Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked President William Ruto to remain steadfast and focused on working for Kenyans.

Speaking on Tuesday, Gachagua insisted that Ruto's employers are the people of Kenya and they are the only people he should listen to.

"Mheshimiwa Rais, I want to encourage you. Watu wa kotini hawakukuajiri kazi, unachukua amri kutoka kwa wananchi," he said.

This loosely translates to, "Your Excellency, you have been given a job by Kenyans. They are the ones you're building houses for and they are the ones building the houses. They are your bosses. The people in court did not employ you. You only take orders from the people of Kenya."

The DP said the people who have gone to court to stop the government's development programmes and policies are the same ones who swore that Ruto would not be President.

He said that they have resolved to frustrate the President because they have seen that he has succeeded where they thought he'd fail.

The Deputy President insisted that they aim to see Ruto's projects fail.

Gachagua said God and Kenyans are on the President's side so he should remain focused on delivering his agenda.

(Those who had said that you wouldn't be president, said that you'd fail as president after your election because Kenya was in debt have seen that you have paid the debts, Kenya is moving forward and the economy is getting better. They are the sponsors of these cases to try and disrupt your work. But because God and the people of Kenya are with you, we encourage you to continue with your work. Stay focused).

The DP spoke during the launch of the Kapsuswa affordable housing project in Uasin Gishu, on Tuesday.
