Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has told off her political critics claiming they were out to distract her from delivering to the electorate.

Terming the criticisms as political propaganda, Ndeti said she was focused and hence she won't be distracted.

“You won’t hear me responding to their noises or quarrelling with anyone. I don’t have that time,” Ndeti said.

Ndeti addressed the AIC Kyumbi faithful in the Mavoko constituency on Saturday.

She was responding to a section of local politicians who have in the recent past criticized her administration citing the Controller of Budget’s latest report that listed Machakos County among those that had no single project implemented in the last financial year.

“I will keep quiet and do the work. Let those who want to talk do so,” Ndeti said.

Ndeti said the electorate knows her strengths and flows since the majority have known her for long having unsuccessfully contested for the Machakos gubernatorial seat for ten years and representing them as their MP for a term.

“Where,  I have reached and at my age, I can’t quarrel with people. I need to keep quiet,” Ndeti said.

She said her focus was to improve the residents’ living standards as well as being their role models, especially children.

The county CEO said she would do her work peacefully and deliver to the electorate.

She said since the electorate were her bosses, she will always be sensitive to their concerns whenever they raise them.

“You are my bosses. So, if you call me, I will leave what I’m doing and come listen to you since I am there for you,” Ndeti said.

Ndeti said her administration had implemented several projects across the country such as dam constructions, grading and tarmacking roads, supporting agricultural projects, and educating needy children through bursaries among others.

She said her administration will this year disburse Sh2.2 million in the form of bursaries towards supporting needy children in the county.

The fund will be distributed to all the 40 wards in Machakos.

Other than the county bursary, Ndeti said her administration will identify 40 needy children for full sponsorship from form one to four.

The beneficiaries will be those who scored 350 marks in 2023 KCPE.

Each ward will produce a needy child to be considered in the program dubbed, ‘Governor Wavinya Ndeti mentorship program’.

She told the residents not to pay for any county services in cash and instead use official paybill numbers.

This she said was one of the strategies her government had initiated to end corruption alongside ensuring that residents were not duped or coned by either rogue county staffers or impersonators.
