Detectives are looking for a man who allegedly stabbed and killed a 26-year-old woman in a suspected love triangle outside a bar in Suneka, Kisii county.
The body of the deceased, a bar attendant in the area was found lying in a pool of blood outside the premises hours after the murder.
She worked at the bar where she was killed on January 8 at about 10 pm, police said.
Police said the body had a deep wound on the neck inflicted by a sharp object.
Witnesses said they saw a man suspected to be her boyfriend escape the scene moments after the murder.
It is not clear what motivated the same. Police said they are looking for the suspect who is still on the run.
The detectives want the man to surrender for questioning.
The body of the woman was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further processing.
Elsewhere in Kitale Town, police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a trench near a petrol station.
An attendant reported that he was sweeping at the station when he spotted the dead body of a man lying in a trench.
Police who arrived at the scene said the body did not have any physical injuries when it was discovered.
The body was moved to Kitale County Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification.
In Homa Bay, police said they are investigating the discovery of the body of a man in River Riana.
The body was decomposing when it was discovered on January 8 at about 9 am.
A resident reported he spotted the body that had been blocked by logs.
It was later retrieved and taken to a local mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations.
