Celebrating a decade of service: Chief registrar Amadi exits office

The Chief Registrar of the Judiciary highlighted some of the milestones realized during her tenure

Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi has signed off from her position after a 10-year stint.

In an event that marks the opening of a new chapter for the Judiciary, Amadi passed the button to her deputy Paul Ndemo who will occupy the position in an acting capacity till the vacant position is filled.

As she left, she highlighted some of the milestones realized during her tenure which she said has seen the progressive transformation of the Judiciary.

It was during her time in office, that 12,000 lawyers were admitted as advocates.

Amadi alongside the Judicial Service Commission and all administrative units have also developed registry manuals and service delivery charters to facilitate the effective and efficient administration of Justice.

It was during her tenure that the number of Judges increased from 119 to 189, judicial officers being magistrates and kadhis increased from 443 to 636.

In this period, the total staff establishment, grew by 54 percent from 4326 in 2024 to 6643 in 2023.

Amadi is the only Chief Registrar of the Judiciary who has had the privilege of administering the oath of office to two Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.

She has also managed two internal leadership transitions within the Judiciary from the then CJ Willy Mutunga and David Maraga.

Ndemo who has taken over the position expressed his gratitude to the outgoing CRJ for how she has served the country.

"That's an office that requires a lot of tenacity, resilience and level-headedness to be able to serve. I assure you there will be no vacuum," Ndemo said.
