Chief Justice Martha Koome has highlighted milestones achieved by outgoing Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi who exited office on Friday after a decade-long service.
Koome presided over the handover ceremony at the Milimani Law Courts building in Upper Hill.
The CJ said Amadi's contribution to the Judiciary’s institutional transformational journey has been impactful and is deeply appreciated.
"Some of the milestones realised during her tenure as CRJ include institutionalising participatory methods in budgeting, leading to more effective allocation of funds; expanding court services and physical infrastructure," the CJ said.
Koome said the Judiciary has also embraced the use of technology for better service delivery and enhanced training and capacity-building programmes during Amadi's rein.
She added that the outgoing CRJ also helped operationalise and enhance the capacity of the Judicial Service Commission and National Council on the Administration of Justice secretariats.
"We witnessed significant improvement in financial management, as evidenced by the reduced number and severity of audit queries in the Judiciary," Koome said.
Amadi handed over to Paul Ndemo who will serve in the role in an acting capacity.
Some of the Instruments handed over include the Judicial Service Act, the Judicial Code of Conduct, the Judiciary Act and Regulations and the Public Finance Management Act and Regulations which define the mandate of the CRJ as the accounting officer.
Others are the Public Audit Act, the Advocates Act, the Oaths and Statutory Declarations Act and the Notaries Public Act.
Amadi also handed over the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act and Regulations which define the mandate of the CRJ as the accounting officer in the procurement of goods works and services.
Amadi served under three different Chief Justices - Willy Mutunga, David Maraga and Koome.
Mutunga served as the Chief Justice between 2011-2016; Maraga took over from October 2016 until his retirement in January 2021.
Koome succeeded Maraga on May 21, 2021, and is the current CJ upon her appointment as the 15th Chief Justice of Kenya.
