After 10 years of service, Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi will be stepping down.
On Friday, she will hand over her duties in a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Amadi has held the position of Chief Registrar since January 2014."
Amadi is the only registrar who has sworn in two Heads of state; Former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 and President William Ruto in 2022.
On November 25, 2023, Amadi proceeded to terminal leave also known as transition leave or transition time.
The Judicial Service Commission already announced the vacancy for the office of Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, which is set to be open on January 13, 2024.
Earlier that month and bidding her farewell, CJ Koome said Amadi deserved to be celebrated.
"We are grateful for the service that you have rendered to this country and for seeing NCAJ from nothing when it was established with no infrastructure, human resource or money, to see it standing where we are today," she said.
"We celebrate and thank you from the bottom of our hearts and wish you all the best and pray that God will open other opportunities for you to continue serving the people and your reward shall be in heaven."
Amadi also expressed her gratitude to the people who helped her as she performed her duties.
Amadi has been an advocate of the High Court of Kenya since 1989.
Previously, she practiced law privately in Mombasa (1997-2003) after serving as a magistrate in the Kenyan Judiciary for six years from 1991 to 1997.
