Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura has said the Kenya Kwanza regime came to power by the power of prayer and they shall sustain it by the same.

Mwaura made the remarks on Monday during the National Thanksgiving Prayer Day under the Tuombeni Kenya Initiative led by the First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.

"The Kenya Kwanza government was steered to power by prayers and we shall sustain it by prayers even as we deliver the promises we made to Kenyans," Mwaura said on X.

He laced his message with a verse from the Book of Chronicles 7:14  where God promises to answer prayers from those who faithfully seek His face.

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

President William Ruto has over time attributed his presidency to the will of God.

On September 5, 2022, he took to social media after the Supreme Court upheld his election victory saying “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” — Mark 10:27.”

On Monday, Mama Rachel urged Kenyans to remain grateful for God's grace through all seasons as she joined other Kenyans in thanking the Almighty for what He has done for the country.

"As we gather to give thanks, let us remember to approach each day with a heart full of gratitude for what the Lord has done in our lives. The Lord's goodness surrounds us, and his enduring love sustains us through every season," she said in her message of gratitude.

The First Lady also quoted a Bible verse emphasising the need for Kenyans to embrace gratitude for their creator as espoused in Psalms 100:4-5.

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good, and his love endures forever; his faithfulness endures through all generations."

Mama Rachel is the patron of the peace advocacy initiative Tuombeni Kenya.

The First Lady has been crisscrossing the country holding county chapters of the prayer sessions under the initiative with the sole aim to pray for Kenya even before she became First Lady.
