Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has said that with God's Grace, they will overcome all the challenges her family is currently facing.
The governor was responding to reports that her husband Murega Baichu and her sister had recorded statements with the police, over the murder of Meru blogger Daniel Muthiani alias Sniper.
In a post on her Facebook page, Mwangaza referred to the reports as lies, saying that they travel fast across the world when the truth is just there.
"Calm during the storm. Lies can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on shoes. We Shall Overcome Gloriously With God's Grace!" she said on Tuesday.
Police on Sunday questioned Baichu as investigations into the murder of Sniper continue.
Police said the Meru Governor's husband was summoned and grilled for hours at the Meru DCI office as part of the ongoing probe into the murder.
He was accompanied by lawyers when he appeared before a team probing the incident.
A woman believed to be the Governor's sister, Miriam Guantai was also grilled in the probe on Monday, officials said.
Eastern Region DCI coordinator Lenny Kisaka confirmed the grilling and added investigations are progressing well.
Teams from Nairobi, Meru and Embu are investigating the murder.
Mwangaza has previously denied knowledge of the murder of Sniper and demanded a transparent and fair probe.
The prosecution on Friday, January 12, asked a Kiambu High Court for a continued detention of the five suspects in connection with the murder for a further 14 days to allow the police to conclude their investigations.
The prosecution wants the suspects to be detained as police continue their investigation into the criminal offence of murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code following the brutal murder of Sniper, aged 33, on December 16, 2023.
