Kenya Union of Post-Prinary Education Teachers is demanding justice following the murder of a high school teacher in Kisumu.

The deceased, 33-year-old was allegedly killed by her husband in Nyakach on Monday during the day.

The Kisumu Branch executive Secretary Zablon Awange condemned the incident saying a thorough investigation must be done.

Awange noted that the deceased Bridgit Amondi, a Maths and Chemistry teacher, was murdered in cold blood.

He called on the police to ensure that justice is served and the perpetrators are brought to book

"Let the police leave no stone unturned in bringing the murderer who survived mob justice to book," he told the Star.

Awange noted that it was unfortunate that teachers within the county continue to lose their lives to perpetrators of violence.

He added that as a union, they join the teachers of Obwolo Secondary School in mourning the loss of one of their own and they are going to rest until justice is served swiftly and decisively.

Police in Kisumu are holding the suspect, the deceased husband who is currently admitted after being attacked by members of the public with investigations into the matter ongoing.

According to Upper Nyakach ACC Dawin Orina, the suspect Joab Otieno Osogo has been referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital due to the injuries he sustained as a result of mob injustice.

The body of the deceased has finally been taken to St. Joseph Nyabondo mortuary.

Earlier, area chief Michael Gundu said the incident happened Monday at mid-day.

Gundi said the two have been having issues for a while.

"Today morning, the man is said to have had a quarrel with the wife today morning before the incident occurred."

He said around mid-day, the husband is said to have attacked the woman and killed him before wrapping his body in a mat and placing it behind the house.

The chief further noted that when locals realized this and found the body, they attacked the husband.

In late May last year, another teacher at Thurdibuor Secondary School Mervy Dache was also killed allegedly by her husband.

The suspect allegedly attacked the wife, using a panga causing her multiple severe injuries causing her Death.
