More than half of Kenyans are struggling to make ends meet, a new survey has revealed.

A report by Infotrak shows that 55 per cent of Kenyans cannot fend for themselves in the wake of tough economic times.

The survey also shows that 18 per cent of Kenyans are in severe financial distress while only 5 per cent are comfortably managing the situation.

Some 22 per cent of the respondents said they are neither struggling nor comfortable.

Topping the list of Kenyans struggling based on regions at 78 per cent followed by Coast at 76 per cent while Central is third at 74 per cent.

Some 73 per cent of Kenyans in Rift Valley are struggling, according to the report.

Kenyans aged 18-26 years and those above 55 recorded the highest population by age of those struggling at 77 per cent.

The interview was conducted between December 18 and 19, 2023 with a sample size of 1,500.
