South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has clarified that he is not interested in vying for the Kisii County Governorship in 2027.

While responding to remarks that it is the reason behind the rift between him and Kisii Governor Simba Arati, Osoro said that he prefers national politics.

According to Osoro, by going for the gubernatorial seat, he will be degrading himself but will have a big name.

He went on to mention some of the former governors who are currently fighting for political survival, despite bearing high statuses in the country's politics previously.

"I have never admired county politics, that's a village kind of politics. National politics is what defines the trajectory of a country. When you devolve back to the governorship, you devolve your politics. You degrade yourself but you only carry a big name," Osoro said on Wabebe XP show.

"Your longevity in terms of sustainability in politics is deemed and not visible and this is very factual. I'll give you a practical example of a governor who was once a very big name. Today, I see him roaming around trying to make himself relevant and he has no other political comeback other than trying the presidency."

Osoro said the gubernatorial position also comes with a lot of baggage and it makes it easier for one to create small and big enemies, as well as imaginary enemies.

He insisted that people have imaginations that he wants to vie for governor but that is far from the truth.

"I want to tell them that I enjoy national politics and I want to run for president of this country someday and you can't run for president if you try to devolve your politics," he said.

"If I must run for a county seat, then it must be the Senate."

He, however, noted that the only circumstances that can make him reconsider his stance is if he develops an extreme burning desire to help the people of Kisii county, which he said has not developed yet.

Osoro said the desire has to be backed with a push from the masses for him to consider it.

"Please tell my imaginary competitors yet, and if I do, I will win."
