South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has said the rift between him and Kisii Governor Simba Arati is not personal.

The legislator said his disagreement with Governor Arati is only political and based on development interests.

"There is no beef in politics, it's only interests. There is nothing personal between me and my governor (Simba Arati) it's all about interests and politics and our aspirations maybe in future," he said on the Wabebe XP show.

He said that there is so much going on in the political field, and some are untrue.

"Politics has so much and sometimes you wonder whether somebody else is using your image or face out there that you are not aware of because the stories you hear about yourself confuse you. You don't understand whether it's you or somebody else," he added.

"The stories you've been seeing around are all fabrications and its a formation of the normal antagonistic politics that we all know about this country."

Tension has been building between the governor and the MP as local leaders try to reconcile.

Arati and Osoro had an altercation on January 8 at the governor's event that escalated where residents sustained serious injuries.

Kisii elders ordered them to give six goats each for a communal sacrifice to end raging skirmishes in the region.

A total number of 24 goats would be slaughtered during the function.

"It is all about atoning for the blood that has already spilt since the bad blood between the leaders began," group chair Nyakundi Kirera told journalists.

However, Osoro turned down the request saying he was no longer interested in further 'handshake talks with anybody'.

"It is time each leader concentrated on work bestowed upon him by the electorate," he told the Star by phone.

"There is nothing worth talking about now. Kila mtu ajihushishe na Kazi take," stated the Majority Whip.
