Fatal accident claims three lives on Webuye-Malaba Highway

Two truck drivers and one person believed to be a turnboy died on the spot in an accident that happened at 3 am on Sunday.

The horrific incident involved trailers that were moving in opposite directions.

Residents who spoke to Journalists at the accident scene on Sunday said that the trailers were ferrying maize and cement respectively.

Geoffrey Wasike, a resident, said that he heard a blast at around 3 am Sunday.

“I was still sleeping when I heard a blast on the road, I woke up to know what was happening," Wasike stated.

“On reaching the accident scene I found three bodies lying in a pool of blood while one person was in unconscious condition.”

He reported that the three were injured beyond recognition.

Wasike said that the unconscious one was rushed to a hospital in Bungoma town for immediate medical attention while the dead were picked and taken to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting family members for identification.

Locals called on the relevant authorities to erect bumps along the busy Webuye- Malaba highway.

Efforts to get police comment on the incident were not successful by the time of publication.
